Cabbage is in season and tons of the vegetable cultivated in the West Region, arrive markets in the economic capital as early as 4am. It is widely consumed in its raw and cooked form. The two main types of cabbage; the red and the green are sold in most markets with the red one being more expensive. The red cabbage is mostly bought by hotel and restaurant operators and used as one of the elements for salad while the green is mostly cooked in households. A bag of green cabbage cost FCFA 4,000 in the Sandaga Market while a bag of red cabbage cost between FCFA 5,000 and FCFA 6,000 depending on the sizes.
