Avocado: Expensive Though in Season

The fruit is in season but still a bit expensive. Hawkers and traders make much profit during this period. They sell both ripe and unripe avocados. Some carry in trays and hawk on the streets while others supply in offices and restaurants. A large size avocado is sold between FCFA 150 and FCFA 200 in markets same sizes sell between 200 and FCFA 300 on busy streets and near supermarkets. In the Sandaga market, a 15-litre-bucket of raw avocado sells at between FCFA 3,000 and FCFA 4,000 depending on the quality. It is said that the best avocado comes from the West Region of Cameroon precisely Mbouda.
