Cookies and biscuits are snacks that are no longer liked just by children but by adults as well. It is common to see a packet of biscuit or cookies in adults’ bags, in offices and even in beauty salons and coffee houses. The biscuit that were hitherto imported and regarded as reserved for a particular group of people is now at the door step of every Cameroonian. The sector has evolved with time and many locals have taken interest in it, producing not only good quality and delicious biscuits and cookies, but health-promoting as well. Many homemade cookies and biscuits including that produced by KAT, has gained the confidence of many a Cameroonians who now prefer them to imported ones.
As days go by, Cameroonians become more creative and innovative, producing biscuits and cookies with local ingredients. The Chief Executive Officer of KAT, Xavier Tchouaffe, returned from Belgium where he worked as a logistician, with the idea of creating a company with main objective to valorise local ingredients. After working with flour processing companies and gaining a lot of experience, he then created his own company where he produces 5 different biscuits types with local ingredients including sesame, coconut, cashew nuts, groundnuts and spices like celery, white pepper and pepper.
