E ating dried fruits is not a habit in Cameroon since the country is blessed with varieties of fruit trees that produce good harvest every season. Though eating dried fruits is common practice in Europe and America, some business people in the fruits and vegetable sector have made their points relevant why dried fruits should be eaten in Cameroon. According to a dry fruit processing company, Fruitsec Coop-Ca, there is a need to inculcate the dry fruits eating culture in Cameroon since fresh fruit are seasonal. To the Founder and Board Chair of Fruitsec Coop-Ca, Raoul Fotso, studies have maintained that post-harvest losses are usually enormous and to curb the post-harvest losses, it is just pragmatic that the fruits are bought from production basin and conserve and the safest conservation method is to dry. With this, he argued that farmers revenue will increase due to the reduction of post-harvest losses. The journey of the organic dried fruits void of colouring and additives started in 2017 with export to Belgium, France and Germany where the custom of eating dried fruits has been ongoing from generation to generation.
