The Minister of Public Works will preside the commissioning ceremony scheduled to take place in Kribi on July 29.
T he express highway recently constructed to link the port city of Kribi and the Seaport site in Mboro will be inaugurated this Friday July 29, 2022, by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi. A statement by the Ministry of Public Works states that the “Kribi-Lolabé highway section is the first phase of the Edea-Kribi-Lolabé highway.” According to the Ministry, the project falls in line with a larger plan to open up the Kribi industrial area. “It aims specifically at improving the competitiveness of the transport chain right from the Kribi Deep Seaport, and making this industrial port the centre of attractive by connecting it both to the inland cities and neighbouring countries, under best safety conditions, comfort and fluidity.” The road which the Ministry described as an “emblematic infrastructure” falls under the highway development programme set up by the government.
The 38.5km long Kribi-Lolabé motorway which is part of the Kribi-Edea motorway is a two lane infrastructure with a possibility of breaking into three lanes in some areas. The road also has 4.95km of connecting roads branching off the main stretch while villages like Mboro, Bilolo in Kribi II subdivision are also connected to the road. The road is linked to the Kribi Deep Seaport by a 1.24km long free feeder road with an additional extension of 775m in the port road network.
