Communal Development: Decentralization Stakeholders Chart Way Forward

A mid-term evaluation of the Communal Development Support Programme put in place thanks to the Germano-Cameroon initiative took place yesterday August 2 in Yaounde.

T he second phase of the Communal Development Support Programme known as PRADEC is on course since September 2020 with some 22 councils drawn from three regions (Littoral, South and South West) involved. The programme which is an initiative of the Germano-Cameroon cooperation has as objective to accompany councils accomplish its mission to optimize local and sustainable development. According to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Decentralization and Local Development, Fred Makolle Ebongue, the programme also seeks to improve collaboration between councils and State devolved services as well as close the digital gap in rural communities. Mr Ebongue who represented the Minister of Decentralization and Local Development at the concertation of the steering committee meeting this Tuesday August 2, pointed out that the programme intervention in the councils will reinforce capacity for a better cooperation between actors in the local finance domain, management of municipal infrastructure, upgrade competence of population in participation in dialogue for development Town Hall concertation as well as putting in place innovative solutions using ICTs in rural zones.
