T here are 41 Form one students who on Monday September 5, 2022, started the new school year 2022/2023 in Obala, Akonolinga, Goura, Bokito, Nguila, Nkondjock, Meme, Fako and Bangem areas thanks to scholarship they received from Agroproduce Management Services (AMS). They emerged laureates from 500 candidates that took part in an essay competition on the theme: “The result of First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) examinations were recently realised and you passed. Tell us a story about that day.” Three essays per area were chosen, giving a total of 27 successful candidates. Then Bangem received 14 winners, one per village (14 villages that took part in a football competition) which brought the number of laureates to 41. On Saturday September 3, 2022, the scholarships were handed to the laureates. Winners in the Centre Region received theirs in Obala while those of the South West and Littoral had theirs in Buea in an event that unfolded simultaneously in the two towns. The first laureates in each cocoa zone had FCFA 80 000, second FCFA 60 000 and third FCFA 40 000. In all, the winners took home FCFA 3 million and a variety of didactic materials. The AMS Essay Competition which started in 2018 is an annual event and has reached out to 250 students. It is AMS corporate social responsibility to its farmers.
