The performance records an improvement of 315 per cent compared to the same period last year.
At the end of the first half of 2022, the Kribi Deep Seaport (PAK) handled 348,118 tons of goods. This is contained in an information note that has just been made public by the port authority. According to the note, some 17,604 tons of fertilizer and bulk, 145,448 tons logs of raw wood and 185,066 tons of clinker constitute the main cargo shipped through the port during the period under review. This constitutes an increase of +315 per cent compared to the same period in 2021. An absolute record according to the port officials. During the above-mentioned period, container traffic stood at 148,218 TEU (Twenty Foot Equivalent). This figure is up by +70.6 per cent compared to the same period in 2021, “and +69 per cent on the second annual operational record objective recorded”, explains the Port of Kribi. Goods excluding transshipment (handling of goods between two ships) stand at 5.8 tons, recording an achievement rate of 57 per cent with regard to the annual objective. Ship calls recorded are 208, a progress rate of 16.1 per cent on the assigned objectives.
The sterling performances recorded confirms the upturn of activities at the port during this post-Covid period.
