National Development: Gov’t Engages Reflections To Forecast Public Policies Strategies

The Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development has launched the first edition of Cam

The government of Cameroon and its development partners are wrapping-up the first edition of the Cameroonian Prospective Days which held in Yaounde on August 1 to 2, 2023, on the theme “Prospective: Strategic Anticipation at the Service of National Development.” The event attended by government officials, authorities of decentralized local government structures, university dons, private sector and civil society actors as well as development partners, was chaired by the Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development in charge of Planning, Paul Tasong. Speaking at the launch of the 2-day conclave, Minister Paul Tasong underscored the importance of the forecasting, stating that the reflections and exchanges during the event are in view of imbibing and promoting the culture of forecasting in development actors. The first ever forecasting days, he noted, will enable stakeholders to share their vision, anticipate for the future through a profound analysis of stakes for strategic national development. In effect, the objective of the event is to situate the place of forecasting in the Vision 2035, define perspective analysis and projections, as well as integrate possible changes for the realization of economic emergence vision of the country. Minister Tasong made allusion to the sudden changes the world witnessed with the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia crisis which disrupted global economy. With the changing situations, evolution of technology, developments are rapid and so every country should take advantage of the disruptive approaches.
