4th Population, Housing and Agricultural Census: Over 32,700 Enumerators To Be Drafted

T he government of Cameroon is poised to carry out another census of the population and housing as well as on agriculture and livestock in the national territory. In prelude to the operations, the National Coordinators of the 4th General Population and Housing Census and the Agriculture and Livestock Census, Bernadette Mbarga and Andre Mbaïranodji respectively have jointly issued releases calling for applications from young and qualified Cameroonians to postulate as enumerators, controllers and administration, finance and logistics staff. One of the press release indicates that 620 controllers of main enumerators aged between 25 and 50 years will be enlisted for the exercise. Their task, according to the release will be to train enumerators, organize and supervise data collection and transfer data collected from the team heads to the central servers. Meanwhile, another release states that 80 senior administrative, financial and logistics support staff will be conscripted for the exercise. Meantime, the bulk of the new recruits for the two census operations would be the recruitment of 32,059 census agents (enumerators) across the ten regions. The enumerators will have as duty to list households and zones, administer questionnaires and transfer data collected to team leaders. Candidates ranging between 18 and 40 years old who are holders of at least GCE Advanced Level or Baccalaureate are expected to contact Regional Delegations of MINADER, MINEPIA, MINEPAT and MINDHU for application modalities before mid-September. The announced census will not only provide temporary employment to over 32,700 Cameroonians but would also enable public authorities to understand the dynamics in the population growth and housing needs in the country.
