T he 2023/2024 academic year started smoothly for 30 children whose parents are cocoa farmers in Fako, Meme, Haut Sanaga, Sanaga Maritime, Mbam-et-Inoubou, Mbam-etKim, Nyong-et- Kelle, Nyong-etMfoumou, Mefou-et- Afamba, Lekie and Nkam Divisions of Cameroon. They were given scholarship by Agroproduce Management Services (AMS). The AMS scholarship prizes includes; branded school books, pens, bags and cash prizes of FCFA 100 000, 80 000, and 60 000 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The scholarships were handed in Buea to deserving beneficiaries on August 30, 2023. Earlier on August 27, 2023, three exceptional candidates received their awards in Bangem in the context of the Sustainable Football for Jesus. With this 5th edition, the AMS Scholarship Program has awarded scholarships to a total of 192 students since its inception in 2017. AMS do not only provides scholarships, but also supports rural schools in different ways. The scholarship is fruit of an essay competition titled “Identify and explain 10 moral habits of a good child.” The AMS essay competition sets the children to compete in essay writing and reward those who p r o d u c e d outstanding essays. The AMS scholarship team reviewed and evaluated each submission based on the clarity of ideas, coherence, originality, and overall presentation. From an impressive pool of entries, the top three essays per zone were selected as winners. This year’s essay competition saw the participation of 536 students across 11 divisions, showcasing their deep understanding and reflection on ethical principles.
