T he South West Regional Assembly has taken the commitment to spread its development activities further into the hinterlands, laying more emphasis on rural electrification and solar lighting. During its third ordinary session for the 2023 financial year which ran from July 4 to 6, 2023, in Buea, the President of the South West Regional Assembly, Zacheus Bakoma Elango expounded on some electrification projects which have been completed since the inception of the institution, some of them include; the installation of 10 solar street lights each at 3-corners Bekondo, Big Bekondo and Big Massaka. Installation of solar street lights in Nkongle and Mbelenka, Ngoh Essoh-Attah, M’mockmbin market and Letia. The rural electrification of Na’anga-Bwassa-Likombe villages in Fako Division worth FCFA 64.000.000 have also been completed. The supply and installation of 35 solar street lights in Mundemba worth FCFA 60.000.000 have also been completed not leaving out the supply and installation of solar street lights in Alou worth FCFA 40.000.000. “We are expanding the projects of rural electrification and solar lights, we have touched all the Six Divisions and are going right to the villages’’, Zacheus Bakoma Elango noted.
