ST Digital Data Center: Fire Simulation Exercise Boosts Workers’ Mindset

The fire incident simulation was done in partnership with the 201st Firefighting Brigade in Douala.

Given the material of companies and groups of persons stored in a data center, there is a need for invaluable material stored in the center to be preserved. To ensure that the data is 100 per cent safe, the Data Center of ST DIGITAL located in the port area in Douala, is determined to safeguard the precious data by stepping up their collaboration with the emergency services in the area of fire safety. Aware of the risks inherent in their activities and the crucial importance of prevention, ST DIGITAL’s Data Center organises drills and simulations in partnership with the 201st Firefighting Brigade in Douala. According to the Director of the Data Center Jean Francis Ahanda, fire security is one of the first risks of a data center, and training their team on this is crucial. “The simulation exercise enables us to improve our emergency procedures, familiarise our staff with evacuation protocols and fire-fighting techniques, improve coordination between our teams and the emergency services, ensure better protection of our infrastructure and the surrounding environment, provide the fire brigade with a training framework for intervention in data center-type facilities while guaranteeing our customers’ maximum security for their data in our 100% African cloud,” he elucidates. According to Lt Gnoundji Wildfred, of the 201st Firefighting Brigade in Douala, once the danger alarm signals a fire incident by alarming non-stop, the first thing for the workers to do is to evacuate the danger zone to the company’s safe...
