Urban Planning and Construction Day: 3rd Edition Launched

The governor of the Littoral Region opened the third edition at the Bonanjo Party House recently

To better contribute to the GDP of the country, there is a need for the City of Douala to be more attractive, thus, has to be well-planned with amenities and services to attract businesses, talent, and investment as well as create livable and sustainable environments for inhabitants. During the 3rd edition of the Urban Planning and Construction Days on the theme: “Respect for Urban Planning Rules and Improving the Living Environment in Douala: How to Act Together for an Attractive and Emerging City,” the Governor of the Littoral Region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua welcomed the Douala City Council’s initiative. In the presence of the Senior Divisional Officer for Wouri Division, Sylyac Marie Mvogo, the Douala City Mayor, Dr. Roger Mbassa Ndinè, local elected officials, and the traditional and religious authorities, the Governor called for concerted and constructive discussions to combat urban disorder that is still a daunting challenge in the port city of Douala. He also decried insecurity and spontaneous settlements in risk zones that often result in disturbing floods due to haphazard construction. To better construct the city and propel economic growth, the Littoral Governor called for public-private partnership and insisted on the firm application of standards and regulations and respect for environmental challenges. On his part, the Douala City Mayor, Dr. Roger Mbassa Ndinè reiterated the need for a collective effort to construct the city to the standard that will attract not only investors but will also strengthen the bond of living together, thus, calling on one and sundry to contribute their quota for the development of the city.
