The extended conferences on budget planning and related performance are underway in Younde to fine-tune government spending for the next three years.
T he representative of various public administrations and State institutions have begun meeting in Yaounde for the 2022 extended conferences on budget planning and related performance for the period 2023- 2025. The extended conferences to run from August 10 to 26, 2022, were officially opened today in Yaounde by the Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development, Alamine Ousmane Mey in the presence of the Minister of Finance, Louis Paul Motaze and other cabinet ministers. The various ministerial departments as well as some State institutions will present their planned activities, projects and expenditure to the examining committee composed of officials of the Ministry of the Economy and that of Finance. For ten days, various ministerial departments will take turns before the examining committee to present their programmes and the objective of each programme which can be adjusted depending on the budgetary resources allocated. Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey in his opening statement said the criteria to select programmes is informed by the budget preparatory circular of the Prime Minister and the Budget orientation given by the President of the Republic. He said focus this year will be the completion of ongoing structural projects with very little attention on new projects. Minister Alamine revealed that some 474 projects are ongoing and needs to be completed. Most of the projects are in the infrastructure sector, governance and general administration.
